A burl is a dense, rounded growth on a tree formed when the tree responds to stress—such as injury, infection, or environmental damage—by producing irregular grain patterns. Though abnormal, burls are prized for their unique beauty and strength in woodworking.

We are sometimes mistaken for THE BURL in Lexington, KY—a restored 1926 train depot featuring live music, arcade games, and a brew pub. We have no affiliation, but we admire their style. It looks like a super cool place to visit.
